are an interior design company based in Penrith. We offer a personal and relaxed service and take pride in offering the very best available in interior design. Working with our clients we create spaces that work for the people who live in them and beautiful designs that will stand the test of time.
The business employs a wonderful team of eight, combining forces with our trusted and highly experienced tradesmen. We have our own workrooms, meaning that we can design, manufacture and fit to the very highest standard.
The owner of the business, Maureen Whitemore, has been involved in interior design and soft furnishings for nearly fifty years. She has delivered training, held seminars and exhibited in many countries around the world. Maureen is also on the Board of the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers.
So, whether you require a tin of paint, a new lamp or simple Roman blind through to a full project coordination service, we would be delighted to help.
Our project coordination service is designed to take away all the pressure of designing your home. We manage all aspects of the project; from the initial meeting to discuss the brief, developing the design alongside our clients, through to managing the entire schedule of works and co-ordinating all relevant trades. We understand the success of our projects lies not only with the end result but also the process, so we take pride on the level of customer service we provide in keeping our clients up to date every step of the way.
Our showroom on Lowther Street, Penrith is open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm, and at other times by arrangement. We have ample free parking. To enable us to give you maximum attention an appointment is recommended. We are happy to travel within the county for an initial visit without charge, or further afield by negotiation.
As newcomers to the area, we only found Whitemore and Thwaytes by googling Interior Designers, but what a great find. Maureen advised us on everything from lighting to beds, from carpets and curtains to kitchen cupboards, from wall colours to window seats. W & T have a wonderful team of electricians, plumbers, builders and carpenters, but it was Maureen’s own superb eye for colour and style that makes me feel that I’m living in one of those unattainably beautiful houses in an Ideal Home magazine. She masterminded a much needed makeover of pretty much every room, and every room is now a source of daily joy for us and we absolutely love it. I can’t recommend Whitemore and Thwaytes and Maureen highly enough.
Maureen Whitemore is a rare find and I feel lucky to have worked with her. I found her by chance and I do not know how we would have coped without her. Maureen was instrumental in sourcing suppliers, making astute judgements, managing deadlines, solving problems and steering a variety of trades people. She also produced beautiful interior schemes for the house.James, Customer
I called into the showroom on the off-chance, having recently moved to Penrith and at the start of a major refurbishment of my Victorian flat, wondering if anyone could help me with interior design advice and ideas to help broaden my thinking. It was the best half hour of the whole 5-month project! From the outset Maureen and her colleagues gave me time to chat and browse so I could achieve what I was looking for, everything from paint & emulsion colours & brands, wallpapers, roller & Roman blinds and full-length curtains, offering a guiding hand, encouragement and inspiration at several meetings, both in the showroom and at the flat along the way.Patrick, Customer
Whitemore & Thwaytes Interiors provided fantastic service to us! Communication was excellent, terrific advice on interior design, fittings and decorations plus great project management of various building trades during a re-styling of several rooms. Perfect if you are busy with other things! Very highly recommended.Lynne and Julian, Customers
